OUR TEAM

Haniya Khalid - Founding Editor

Haniya is a Dubai-born Pakistani. She is a biomedical engineer and business leader who founded Half-Light as a way to write about diverse topics and interview fascinating personalities. Her ultimate goal is to create a community that is connected through their shared love of journalism and creative nonfiction. Her writing interests include pop culture, business, and food in fiction.

Raisa Malika - Editor

Raisa is a London-born, Hong Kong-raised Pakistani currently working as a Secondary English teacher, but her love for writing both creatively and academically has never wavered. Her interests lie in exploring gender spatiality and intersectionality within literature, mostly while spending way too much time in Kinokuniya and deciding if that ice latte is worth it.

Molly Arabella Kirk - Editor

Molly A. Kirk is a British emerging writer and editor living in Dubai. She has recently completed a Master of Arts Degree with Distinction in Publishing at Exeter University. Examples of her published works can be found in Enigma Journal, Riptide Blog, and Smashed Peaches (her feminist activist anthology). In her free time, she can be found reading piles of books & writing vivid poetry. She hopes that she can create a safe space for others, break stigmas and create meaningful content that others can find home in.

Amna Zarooni - Art Director

Amna Alzarooni is an artist who blends her unique perspective with vibrant cultural influences. Her art invites viewers to explore the dynamic interplay between her Emirati heritage and contemporary modes of self-expression. All of the illustrations and doodles in the magazine are original pieces created exclusively for Half-Light.
